DIY whipped body butter with essential oils

Despite the variety of lotions displayed on store shelves, you often spend wasteful minutes glaring at hundreds of branded products with “promising” labels. However, these labels may be misleading and leave consumers contemplating which company is virtuous. In order to simplify your options, cooking up your own lotion may be your new favorite alternative. To create a personalized body butter, experiment my recommended recipe for a nourishing, homemade product.

To begin, gather the following items:

Mason Jar
Vitamin E Oil
Raw Shea Butter (solid)
Non-GMO Corn Starch
Grapeseed Oil
Organic Virgin Coconut Oil
Young Living™ Patchouli Essential Oil (or your preferred EO)

Once you’ve gathered the above:

Begin by boiling 1-inch of water into a double boiler. Bring down to a simmer to melt the Shea Butter and Coconut Oil – allow 3-5 minutes to complete this process. Don’t be puzzled by the solid form when you purchase these products – this is its natural state.

1/2 cup Solid Coconut Oil
1 cup Raw Shea Butter (solid)

Once liquified, transfer the mixture into a bowl and refrigerate for 30 minutes – until the edges are white and solidified.

Next, add the following to the solidified mixture:

2 tsp of Corn Starch
20 drops of Vitamin E Oil
1/2 cup Grapeseed Oil
20 drops of Young Living™ Patchouli Essential Oil
Blend these ingredients with a handheld mixer for about 30 seconds. Transfer the whipped mixture into a mason jar to eventually thicken into a 16oz lotion.

Finally, lather your skin with this whipped, musky scented body butter!
